Romana Rust is a PhD researcher at the Chair of Architecture and Digital Fabrication (Prof. Fabio Gramazio, Prof. Matthias Kohler) at ETH Zurich. Her research focuses on the design and study of feedback-based fabrication processes and the development of tools and technologies for their application within the architectural domain.

Kathrin Dorfler is a PhD researcher at the Chair of Architecture and Digital Fabrication at ETH Zurich and joined the NCCR Digital Fabrication in September 2014.

Prior to their work at ETH, Romana and Kathrin were awarded the GAD Awards 2012 and archdiploma13, with the diploma thesis “Integration of Digital and Physical Design Methods” at TU Vienna.

The talk will focus on how to bring robots directly to the construction site and autonomously fabricate structures beyond factory conditions. A short introduction and overview to this branch of research will be followed by the presentation of three distinct projects by Gramazio Kohler Research:, Remote material deposition, Mobile Robotic Fabrication, and Explorations on Spatial Wire Cutting.
