Robots and Embodied Agents in Collaborative Construction

On May 20th, Xiliu Yang and Samuel Slezak will host a workshop titled "Robots and Embodied Agents in Collaborative Construction" at the Future of Construction Conference 2026 at ETH Zurich.

This workshop explores agent and robot embodiments in collaborative construction using augmented reality. Together with participants, they will discuss the roles of AI agents and robots as non-human actors on a construction team, and customise their embodiments and interactions to shape how they collaborate with humans.

The 'Future of Construction' symposium explores how technology shapes the way we design and build. The accelerating convergence of technological domains in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) invites us to rethink human capability, skill, and agency. At this intersection, AI, extended reality, and robotics are transforming digital fabrication and augmented design into active sites of experimentation.
