"Designing Behaviours – Behaviour-based Design: Digital, material and robotic agents in architectural design"

Tobias Schwinn is a research associate and doctoral candidate at the Institute for Computational Design (ICD) at the University of Stuttgart under the supervision of Professor Achim Menges. In his research he is focusing on behaviour-based approaches for computational design integration in the context of robotic fabrication of segmented shell structures. Prior to joining the ICD in 2011, he worked as a Senior Designer for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in New York and London. Tobias studied architecture at the Bauhaus-University in Weimar, Germany and at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia as part of the US-EU Joint Consortium for Higher Education. He received his diploma-engineering degree in architecture in 2005.
