On June 24th 2023, ICD researcher Ekin Sila Sahin will be presenting the recent paper "Feedback-Based Design Method for Spatially-Informed and Structurally-Performative Column Placement in Multi-Story Construction" in the 5th Conference on Computational Design and Robotic Fabrication (CDRF 2023) that will happen in Tongji University, China.

The presentation will introduce a feedback-based computational method for the placement of columns in the early design phase of complex multi-story structures. The developed method empowers diverse potentials which are infrequently seen in multi-story timber building design, including additional cantilevering spaces around the boundary, increased spatial qualities with the possibility for large spans, multidirectional structural arrangements, multi-purpose use of space, and other material systems.

The paper is developed by the first author Ekin Sila Sahin, and the co-authors Daniel Locatelli, Luis Orozco, Anna Krtschil, Hans Jakob Wagner, Achim Menges, and Jan Knippers. It presents an outcome of the ITECH MSc Studio 2019/2020: Performative Morphology.

Presentation will be streamlined as a part of the online session that will be held on the 24th of June, 2023, at 06:30-08:15 CET: https://www.youtube.com/c/digitalfuturesworld
