Learning from Nature: The Future of Design
03.03.2019 - 23.05.2020, MODA, Museum of Design Atlanta, USA

A series of bio-inspired, weather-responsive apertures made from shape-changing material systems are on display as part of the exhibition: Learning From Nature at the Museum of Design Atlanta. The pieces showcase the use of natural materials such as wood as well as newly developed bio-based materials for 3D and 4D printing of smart structures. The series includes work from Achim Menges, Dylan Wood, Tiffany Cheng, and Yassaman Tahouni, as well as former ICD researchers Steffen Reichert, David Correa, and Oliver Krieg.

This exhibit demonstrates how designers are finding sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating nature’s time-tested patterns and strategies as part of 2020: The Year of Climate + Change to demonstrate how designers in our community and across the globe are offering solutions.

This exhibition was curated by Veronica Klucik and Malaysia Marshall in collaboration with The Biomimicry Institute and with the help of Exhibition Advisor, Jeannette Yen, Director of the Center for Biologically Inspired Design at Georgia Tech. Exhibition design by Susan Sanders."
