On October 29th 2026, ICD researcher Laura Kiesewetter will present her research on materially programmed, self-shaping timber structures at Night Lab I: Materials of Tomorrow in New York. Together with Skylar Tibbits (Self-Assembly Lab, MIT) and Ragini Nikumbh (Heidelberg Materials North America), she will discuss her perspective on the materials of tomorrow and how materials can be designed to respond, transform and actively shape the building process.
The event is part of the Next Frontiers Symposium hosted by 1014 in collaboration with Vitra and the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH), and is part of Archtober, New York City’s Architecture and Design Month.
