Researcher Kenryo Takahashi will present the paper, "Structural Design and Construction of a Self-Shaping Single Curved Timber Structure HygroShell"  on behalf of the author team from the ICD and ITKE as well as the university of Oregon, at the prestigious International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) Conference in Zürich. The paper introduces pioneering techniques in timber architecture, focusing on the development of the HygroShell, a self-shaping, single-curved structure. This innovative approach leverages the natural hygroscopic properties of wood, allowing the timber to autonomously bend and form complex shapes.
