IBA Thüringen Timber Prototype Workshop
Building Workshop in Weimar

In the context of a research project at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction a prototypical building will be produced and assembled for the International Building Exhibition in Thüringen. The building is planned within the project in collaboration with the Jadehochschule Oldenburg.
The research project aims to investigate the development of building construction systems from solid timber, in which the individual building elements are designed and shaped through modern processing techniques in order to fulfill the requirements for energy-efficient and sustainable buildings. This development is supposed to be evaluated and demonstrated through a building demonstrator in summer.
The three-week long workshop will be planned in Stuttgart but held in Weimar. The individual elements will either be pre-fabricated in Stuttgart or in Weimar. Teams will help with the production and assembly. More information will be available on the first meeting on 12.04.

Im Zuge eines Forschungsprojekts am Institut für Computerbasiertes Entwerfen und Baufertigung soll im Sommer für die IBA Thüringen ein prototypisches Gebäude entstehen, das von Studenten und Mitarbeitern der Universität Stuttgart und der Jadehochschule Oldenburg geplant, gefertigt, und gebaut wird.
Das Forschungsprojekt hat zum Ziel, Baukonstruktionen aus Massiv-Holz zu entwickeln, bei denen die Holz-Elemente durch moderne Fertigungsmethoden so ausgeformt werden, dass sie durch Form und Fügung konstruktive und bauphysikalische Anforderungen des energie-effizienten und nachhaltigen Bauens erfüllen. Diese Entwicklung soll im Sommersemester durch den Bau eines Micro-Living Demonstrator abgeschlossen werden.
Der dreiwöchige Workshop umfasst die Vorplanung der Bauzeit in Stuttgart, sowie zwei Wochen vor Ort in Weimar. Die Einzelteile werden entweder in Stuttgart oder in Thüringen vorgefertigt und angeliefert. In Teams soll der Prototyp wettergeschützt vor Ort aufgebaut werden. Voraussetzung für den Workshop sind ein Verständnis für das Material Holz und die Lust, mit anzupacken.
