Juan David Frank is a Research Associate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) at the University of Stuttgart. His research interests focus on the intersection of A.I. applications in architecture, computational design, and robotic fabrication.

He holds bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Architecture from Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá). He completed the international Master of Science program Integrative Technologies and Architectural Design Research (ITECH) at the University of Stuttgart. His master’s thesis, developed in collaboration with Alfiia Shakurianova, investigated the use of large language models for automated code-compliance checking in architectural design models.

Prior to his master’s studies, he worked as a mechanical designer and later as an independent computational designer. He also contributed as a volunteer researcher at his undergraduate institution, where he designed end effectors for robotic fabrication.
