Ruxin Xie is a Research Associate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) at the University of Stuttgart. She is part of the Material Programming Research Group and a member of the Research Training Group BioBuild – Bio-inspired Materials and Systems for Responsive Building Components, a collaborative doctoral program funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).

Prior to joining ICD, she worked as a Research Associate at Princeton University, where she focused on robotic integration for construction and digital fabrication workflows. She previously worked as a Technical Designer at Gensler, contributing to technology-driven architectural design and building projects.

Ruxin received both a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) from the University of Michigan. Her M.Arch. thesis, developed with Roberto Corpus and Tianci Liang, explored collaborative agency between architecture and artificial intelligence in design processes. Her M.S. thesis, developed with Mackenzie Bruce and Gabriel Clune, investigated sustainable robotically 3D-printed clay formwork for concrete casting.
