Monika Göbel

Monika Göbel is a Research Associate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) in Stuttgart. She is a registered architect in Germany and holds a Master of Science degree from Columbia University, New York and a diploma-engineering degree (Dipl.-Ing. FH), from University of Applied Science Kiel, Germany.

Monika Göbel worked as Teaching Assistant and Lecturer at the Chair of Sustainable Construction at KIT Karlsruhe 2017 - 2018 / Visiting Lecturer Syracuse University Summer 2005 / Lecturer “Lunchtime Lecture Series” Columbia University NYC 2003.

Prior to joining the ICD, Monika gained professional experience as an architect and Project Manager at KUKUK Freiflug GmbH 2013 - 2018 / Project Manager at Atelier Brückner Stuttgart 2008 - 2012 / Project Manager Hannes Wettstein AG Zürich 2006 - 2008 / Architect at Foster and Partners London 2003 - 2005 / Assistant Designer Eisenman architects NYC 1999. At KUKUK Freiflug GmbH in Stuttgart, she specialized in sustainable and social concepts in Landscape, Arts and playable spaces and developed and planned a 40m high tower made of cross laminated timber for the Landesgartenschau in Schwäbisch Gmünd. At Atelier Brückner she focused on communication of content within architectural space. Monika Göbel contributed to several architectural competition entries within her practice as an Architectural Assistant at Eisenman Architects, such as the West Side Competition IFCCA NYC (1999) Santiago di Compostela Spain (1999) and Musêe du Quai Branly Paris (1999). Her research interests include the interface between the design and the associated structural system resulting from material and its properties and sustainable design through intelligent production process.
