Gili Ron is a research associate and a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD), Department for Computing in Architecture (CA), and the International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems (IMPRS-IS). Her research interests center on human-robot collaboration and machine learning in co-design and fabrication, and their review from feminist technoscience perspectives. Ron holds a Bachelor in Architecture from the Azrieli School of Architecture, Tel-Aviv University (TAU) and a Master in Architecture from the Emergent Technologies and Design Master Programme, The Architectural Association, London (EmTech, AA). Her master thesis developed on-site robotic fabrication and assembly of waterless concrete, for arid region architecture.
Her research investigates the integration of sensors and artificial intelligence in human-robot collaboration (HRC), with a focus on applications in timber assembly and diverse user groups. Through the AP-30 project, she developed a human-centred approach to HRC informed by feminist technoscience perspectives, in collaboration with the school of Social Sciences (SOWI) at the University of Stuttgart. Supported by industry partners Müller-Blaustein and NEURA Robotics, the project evaluated sensor-and-AI-supported HRC in two user studies with industry prfessionals and academics, across varying levels of experience.
Under Project:Galath3a, Ron designs digital interfaces, immersive environments and multimodal installations, exploring future relationships with machines. She is a contributor and editor to Utopia Digital Magazine. Prior to joining ICD, Ron has worked for HENN (DE), Burckhardt+Partner (CH), and Mayslits Kassif (IL), and founded LYLA TOV NGO against sexual harassment in Israeli nightife.
